World Accreditation Day – For a safer world

Every year, 9 June marks World Accreditation Day, a global initiative established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation. This year’s theme focused on how accreditation can provide a safer world.

Expectations for safe jobs, safe products, safe food, safe transport and safety in almost every aspect of our lives are universally shared. But according to statistics, expectations are not always met in reality. This gap, between safety expectations and reality, is a vital argument for governments, regulators and companies to maintain efforts to provide safe conditions in work, private life and all other parts of people’s lives.

On the occasion of this event the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) have promoted a series of events dedicated to accreditation and developed a brochure describing the role of accreditation and the benefits it brings to authorities, companies, but also to employees and citizens. The electronic version of this brochure can be viewed here.
